Novomates Yerba Mate Gourd Set - Double Wall Stainless Steel Cup with Stanley Steel Bombilla Straw and Yerba Container - 8oz (237ml) Green

I've been drinking yerba since the 1970s when an Argentinean friend gave me an extra mate & bombilla. During the decades that followed, I have owned and used gourds, ceramic cups, glass Irish coffee mugs, aluminium-covered wood & silicone rubber mates... even a Sterling Silver artesanal mate y bombilla. My preference has always been for non-porous receptacles as these are less likely to develop mould and are easier to keep clean. When I saw this stainless steel Novomates "calabasa" I was taken with its shapely form and decided to give it a try. For me it is perfect as a single-serving mate. I was impressed with the double-wall construction as the outside stayed quite comfortable after multiple additions of 76C water. No metallic or "gourdy" taste! A wet sponge and drop washing up liquid keeps it clean & ready for the next use. I must confess that I did not use the bombilla that came with it as I already have a personal favourite. Oh, yes, the flat bottom keeps the Novomates gourd from tipping, even with my industrial strength bombilla standing in it! For a newcomer to yerba, this is a great mate. It's my new fave!

Great product, easy to use and clean. Appropriate size for the tea, a bit small compared to a traditional cup but normal for a mate gourd. Glad I bought this one. Agree with other reviews that you might need a different straw - I ended up buying one with a lower strainer since the provided one lets in tea leaves and there is about half inch of tea in the bottom. Over all good product

Gourd looked good, easy to clean and definitely keeps your Mate hot or cold. The bombilla included allows bigger pieces of the Yerba to come through so I just got a different set, still use the gourd though.

The bottom is dented. The top was dented on the first one and it came with no gourd. I sent that one back.

There was a small bulk on it when i received it, but otherwise looks good. Its a present for my parents so iill havent personally tried it myself.

I bought this yerba mate set to replace my traditional cabaca fruit gourd that I have been using to drink my mate out of. The problem with the traditional fruit gourd is that it promotes mold growth between use. This stainless steel gourd solves that problem and it’s easy to clean after use. I would have given it a higher score if it wasn’t for the bombilla straw that comes with this set. The bombilla straw does a poor job of filtering out the mate leaves and stems. You get leaves and stems with every sip of tea. Luckily I still have my bombilla set I brought with me from Argentina which does the job. So the stainless steel gourd was still worth the purchase.

Love it. Never hot to the touch and is a great size. Smaller than some gourds I've had but I like the smaller size.Also, going into meetings at work I've always felt a little odd carrying a gourd with me. Honestly this makes much more sense in an office environment.I do use different bombillas (straw) than what came with based on other reviews.

I have been using novomates Mate cup and Bombilla for a couple of weeks now and I'm enjoying the experience. The cup and Bombilla work great together and are easy to clean and durable. The container for storage is just icing on the cake. I highly recommend this product for Yerba Mate drinkers.
