Volcanic Peppers gift pack-Volcano Dust 2 - 3/4 oz, Bhut Jolokia (Ghost) - 3/4 oz, Chocolate Habanero - 3/4 oz

Triad of pure heat. First off I am a long time customer of Volcano Pepper products, and use the Volcano Dust 1, Volcano Dust 2 and Habanaro on a regular basis. Having started using Scorpion Peppers in homemade mixes to really bring up the heat I decided to try this triple pack as I knew I would get all the heat and no filler (salt, pepper, etc).I tried the Volcano Dust 3 before and if you have not it is a clear step up in the heat level from Vocano Dust 2 and Volcano Dust 1 has red pepper in it so that is kind of a training wheels version (good flavor but a far different product).Here we have the three 3/4oz shakers, as follows:1. Volcano Dust 3: A very hot mix of some of the hottest peppers most have ever known. Included are the Scorpion, the 7-Pot and finally the ghost pepper. All crushed into a very fine mix. From what I can tell all are evenly mixed perhaps just slightly heavier on the Ghost, but my guess is it is an even mix. It does not appear that that these are smoked, just dried and crushed into an extremely fine dust. Although this is a blend, it is a blend of very hot and usually expensive peppers and a shaker like this would easily sell for $20 on its own.2. Next up is the Scorpion Pepper. Again 3/4 ounce of pure scorpion pepper. This was initially the main reason I purchased this pack as I wanted the Scorpion Pepper. These peppers are usually pretty expensive with a half ounce running about $19.00 for the pods and once the stems are removed you get far less, not to mention I have seen more than a few sellers pawning off standard dried habanero peppers as scorpion peppers so buying from a reputable source is worth the price and here it is 3/4 ounce of pure pepper.3. Finally, the last shaker is The Reaper. These peppers currently hold the record for the hottest peppers at 2.2 million scoville units. I think that scorpion runs about 1.2 million and ghost about a million. I underestimated just what that difference meant. I roast my own peppers and shook the Reaper on top of the peppers I was roasting just like I always have with Volcano Dust. When I took them out I was not too careful and caught a full breath of the vapor and trust me it is unlike anything I have ever experienced. It did make for some very tasty and quite hot salsa, it is a new favorite, but I need to actually be careful in handling this stuff. It is no joke.To summarize, this is a great mix of three different, very hot and pure dried pepper "dusts". These are the real deal and they include no fillers, no salt nothing at all but dried pepper dust. The price may seem high for three "small" shakers (and yes these are small shakers) but they will last a long time as even a chilihead will only dust what he or she is eating. If you don't want to shell out the $49 for all three than any of the three would be great as well. I would not start with The Reaper...maybe start with the Scorpion and when you are ready move up to final shaker. Enjoy the heat!
