Excellent Charger/ Trickle Charger - Beware of negative reviews
Forget all the negative reviews. Some of the people who wrote negatively about it, did not know what they are doing. So I left my GSX-R 600 ignition on after a ride...Totally drained the battery. It would not even light up. I asked my cousin for a his battery charger/ tender but it was a pain to remove his tank and all on his Ducati so I bought this after reading the reviews. I saw some negative but I usually avoid those as those are the people who do not know what they are doing. So I got it on Sunday and installed it first removed - first then +. Installed the tender attachment and reinstalled battery + then - back on. Plugged in the quick connect to the unit and lit up and looked at the lights and what they stood for. Said charging. Let it sit for 3 hours. Lights turned on which was excellent. Let it stay over night and then Monday morning, looked at the charging unit and it and light for fully charged was good. Turned ignition on and everything lit up and then started the bike...BOOM!!! Started like a charm. Seems to have started easier than in the past which shows I probably needed a tender even though I ride twice a week but only on weekends. Took me less than 20 minutes to install. Works like a charm and keeps the bike tended. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Charger/ Tender. For the price it is unbeatable and the quality is solid and not as flimsy as people said it was. So as the title states, beware of negative reviews...If I followed negative reviews, I would have just bought a battery which would never have raised my awareness and need for a Charger/ Tender.

Great charger at a great price!
I purchased this charger (2 amp) to charge a replacement battery that I installed in a Peg Perego (kids John Deere tractor). I had previously purchased their 800mA model for my kayak and loved it. I needed this one for the kid's toy because it can charge faster and it is safe for them to use. They can easily plug it up and wait for the "charge complete" light to illuminate. If they forget about it, it's no big deal because it won't overcharge the battery. This is a simple charger that is easy to use. I also like the fact that it comes with hooped wiring as well as clipped wiring, although I did not use them for my application.

Very good maintainer charger.
I ordered this on an amazon deal because I was looking for a smart automatic maintainance charger. I tested both on a lead acid and AGM style 12 Volt automotive batteries and was pleased with the charger's performance. I keep it in my vehicle for those road trips to friends and family so I can keep my battery topped up and maintained. As its a smart charger I can safely leave it charging overnight. Would recommend this for anyone in the market for a maintainance charger. Please note that this cannot jump start a car.

Works Well
My battery was dead as a door nail and this unit charged it to full capacity in 2 days. Those expecting a much shorter charging time should not expect this device to do that. IT IS NOT meant for that so this is not a knock. It actually performed better than even the makers described. According to them the battery should still have some charge (around 3V) for this device to be able to work. But again, my battery was completely dead and it still charged it (as another buyer noted) within 48 hours. It does get quite warm but that is no surprise considering I used it to charge a dead battery versus a weak one. For the money, it did a bit more than it was intended so worth it.

Great Compact Backup Charger for Solar Array Charge Controller
I have a marine deep-cycle lead-acid battery attached to several solar panels. I use this array for some lights, running an audio amp, and for charging NiMH and Li-Ion batteries in my cell phones and Kindles, etc. On days when it is rainy and dark, and especially in winter here in the Pacific Northwest, I need to use an auxiliary charger to keep the lead-acid battery topped off. This little charger does the trick. It is small and can be tucked out of the way, and then switched on (using a separate AC switch) when I need it. It is a smart charger and knows how to go from bulk, to absorption, to trickle properly. I can run it parallel to the charge controller with no problem. I highly recommend it.

Works well
A friend had not driven their car for awhile and couldn't get it to start. Jumping it got it started, but the battery wouldn't last. After charging the battery with this, their car worked like new. The cord could be a bit longer, but an extension cord is fine

Charger works as described. Update not maintaining batteries.
I am replacing my Battery Tender brand chargers with other brands as they fail. I used to purchase and use only Battery Tender chargers, but recently I have had failure after failure and the return and replacement cost is more than it cost me to by this charger. So far this charger has worked well for my needs which is maintaining a charge on the battery in my vintage car. I have also moved it to a lawn tractor and used it there temporarily. If it continues to perform as it has over the past month I will buy a few more. I also intend to do some testing of the amperage output of this charger and will report back when I get a chance to do that. I may also change my 5-star rating depending on the outcome. Otherwise after one month completely satisfied with this charger.5 - month update. I have increase my rating to 5 stars and ordered another charger. The price has went up a few dollars since I ordered my first charger, but still a good price. I used my multi-meter to get current flow and found it to product almost 2 amps on a battery that was in need of a charge which is as advertised. Once the battery had been charged the amperage dropped to almost nothing. Which is exactly what you want from a "smart" charger. I'll probably pick up a few more for RV, lawn tractors, etc. Beats buying a new lawn and garden battery every year or going out to plow the snow and finding the battery dead.January, 2020 UPDATE. Found as another reviewer stated that once the battery is charged the charger seems to not detect the battery losing charge. Had to install a timer to turn off and on the charger. This is a bit of a hassle and an added cost. Reducing star rating unless I hear from company representing Foval.
