Feels like a good quality build and worked perfectly with appropriate light bulb.
The media could not be loaded. I gambled on buying this dimmer control, knowing from other reviews, that the device did not work with everybody's lamps.REVIEW SUMMARYBuild quality feels good, but, INITIALLY it did not work with either of my LED lamps. However just before posting my initially prepared review, I thought the fault I was experiencing may be due to me using an inappropriate light bulb. This suspicion was confirmed by the dimmable controller working perfectly after I change the light bulb I was using in the lamp.To be fair, my final rating is based only on using the dimmer controller with the light bulb sold as "Dimmable" and the dimmer controller's build quality.____________________________________________DETAILED REVIEWI have two LED lamps and will describe how they each functioned separately.LAMP INITIALLY FITTED WITH, STANDARD LED LIGHT BULB- For dial positions within the, "LIGHT FLICKERS ZONE", (see images 1 & 2), using the standard LED light bulb (see images 3.1, 3.2, 3.3), the light flickered at a visibly high frequency, (see first part of video).- For ALL dial positions BELOW the, "LIGHT FLICKERS ZONE", the flickering stopped BUT the brightness was fix dim, as shown in image 5 and NOT of variable brightness.- For ALL dial positions ABOVE the, "LIGHT FLICKERS ZONE", the flickering stopped BUT the brightness was fix bright, as shown in image 6 and NOT of variable brightnessNOTE - My camera's exposure setting was locked the same, between images 5 and 6.Same LAMP THEN FITTED WITH A, DIMAMABLE LED LIGHT BULB (sold as "Dimmable bulb" - see images 9.1, 9.2, 9.3)- NOW WORKS PERFECTLY!From DIMMEST most dimmable position, (dial turned to far left), where the light bulb was completely off,to the BRIGHTEST position, (dial turned to the far right), where the light bulb was at it's brightest, the increase in brightness was smooth and gradual as should be expected, with NO flickering and NO pulsating. So, one more time, for the record, with the correct light bulb, (sold as, "Dimmable bulb" - see images 9.1 and 9.2, 9.3), the dimmer controller worked perfectly.I have no video of the smooth increase in lighting described here, as I did not have the time to take another video, and then blend it into the already created video, to create a single video, (video upload limit here is one video per review);this section of testing actually occurred last, as an afterthought, just before posting what I now know would have been my initially more limited and not fairly representative review, lacking all relevant facts needed for a fair review._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _WITH FLAT LED LAMP (Tomshine Led Floor Lamp Remote & Touching Control https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B082LRF5WP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )- For dial positions within the, "PULSATION ZONE", (see image 7), when using the flat LED lamp light, (see flat LED lamp head in images 8.1, 8.2, 8.3), the light pulsated slowly, (see the second part of video).____________________________________________I hope will be helpful for many of you out there.

works well
Does exactly what it should. I use it to reduce the brightness of my garden festoon lights (which were much too bright)

Basic but effective turn switch
Bought this to dim my outside led lighting. It does a fantastic job, simple turn control to adjust, cheap solution with effective results.

Sort of works with some brands of bulb
The first dimmer unit kept flickering and changing brightness at low settings. The seller was kind enough to send a replacement.I have tested this replacement with three brands of dimmable bulbs: Phillips, Dial and Luminate. I have to say that only the Dial seem to work reasonably well. The Phillips had the same changing brightness issue but not as bad as when using the original dimmer device. The Dial and Luminate work better but in both cases, when set to a low level the light fails to come on after switching off and back on. If I repeat the procure then the Dail bulb comes on at a low setting. So, on the whole, this dimmer is not good but useable with the Dial bulb.A few weeks later and I have to knock another star off. I'm afraid this simply does not work. I've tried a range of bulbs now and in all cases the light is unstable at low levels and fails to come back on (at low levels), when switched off and back on. I suppose it might be useful if you expect to have to continually manually adjust it but even then it is not able to maintain a constant low-level brightness. Reluctantly therefore, I have to say that it is not fit for purpose,

Great item
Purchased this dimmer for my newly bought Mathmos rocket lava lamp which sits on my piano while trying to learn how to play it, but after 3 or 4 hrs the lava tends to be more active than I like due to the constant heat of the bulb. This dimmer allows me to turn down the voltage going to the lamps halogen gu10 bulb which in turn lowers the heat of the bulb so the wax becomes less active and more of a slow moving, mesmerising experience, also the lamp can be on for longer than the recommended 6 hrs that Mathmos says as the bulb isn't as hot prolonging it's life. This dimmer controls the lamp from off to full steplessly. Seems to be of decent quality but the dial feels a bit cheap. Only had a day so can't comment on long-term use but so far so good. Don't know about using it with led bulbs but from previous experience you would have to make sure the dimmer is compatible with led lights. Hope this helps.

Doesn’t work with LED
Stated that they work with LED lights and bulbs but this appears to not be true. Product does work with ordinary bulbs so is 50/50

Excellent product at a fantastic price
Bought the dimmer for my son's new 15 watt (tungsten) Ikea nightlight, which was proving far too bright. It dims the lamp to a fraction of the level it was before, so we're very pleased as he's sleeping again. The response from control is very linear. Like many dimmers, if switched on (when set to a very low setting) it needs turning up a little for the lamp to light, and then can be dimmed down a lot more. That said, we've left it set at a very low glow and it comes on every time the lamp is switched on.Things to know that aren't in the product description:-The dimmer is rated at 20 watts minimum (but ours works fine with a 15 watt lamp).-Works with mains tungsten or mains halogen lamps.-You must not plug in a compact florescent lamp unless it's designed for dimming - possibly the cause of the one in Mark Rennie's review dying.-You must not plug in a transformer (low voltage) halogen lamp, again could kill the dimmer.-You shouldn't plug in a low voltage halogen with an electronic transformer, unless it's designed to work with a dimmer - possibly the cause of the non linear control and flickering in N N S Waller's review.- The dimmer has an internal 2 amp fuse.Highly recommended for childrens' nightlights!
