Q: Can you lock it on with out holding the trigger on

You can lock it on or off but because my shower uses main water pressure when I didn't turn off at the mixer valve it leaks. I do have high water pressure up to 8 bars

Q: Does this fit a standard shower hose connection?

Yes it will fit standard shower.

Q: how do you make this work with the shower as, when you dont press the trigger the water just builds up and im scared of it bursting/breaking my shower

No problem,there not that much pressure in the system ,just press the trigger when you want water.We find it best to set you temperature on the tap and use the shower head as and when you want .Turn the tap off when finished showering.Paul.
